There is also the Campaign for an English Parliament. They don't go quite so far as to call for full independence, but rather a national parliament to match the Scottish and Welsh.

I would fear for the Celtic Cornish minority should the English Independence Party ever get its way.
An English Parliament may well come some day - but that lot wont be running it.

Yeah, it does look like they are 'one-culture' nationalists. Is there actually much of a Celtic culture left in Cornwall though? I've never been there, but always got the impression that although the Celts hald out a bit longer than in the rest of England, it is now just as English as the rest of the country.

The Cornish still regard themselves as not English.
However, the problem of migration from England and of holiday homes has left the Cornish a minority in their own land.
A recent survey found that only 42% of people living in Cornwall considered themselves to be of Cornish descent.
Amongst these there are many nationalists and widespread support for a Cornish Assembly.
The Cornish language movement is growing and it has even been intoduced to a few schools.
The nationalist political party, Mebyon Kernow, has over twenty Councillors, but does not fare so well in Westminster elections yet.

Cheers Abieuan. I hadn't come across this before. Seems like quite a fundamental problem though if Cronish identity is only to be found within the 42% of the population that are of Cornish descent. It means having to persuade the remaining 58% that Cornish language culture etc is also important to them and should be promoted.

Many of the incomers are sympathetic towards Cornish culture, however there are many rich people from south east England who treat Kernow (Cornwall) as their playground and look on the native population as rustic curiosities.

Cornish nationalism, as a political force, is growing -albeit slowly.
A main focus at the moment is the Campaign for a Cornish Assembly, perhaps a separate thread in the "other nationalist movements" section would be useful to post new developements.
