Funding for energy crops to grow
Grants for growing energy crops are to rise in Scotland to bring funding levels into line with those in England.
Farmers who grow short rotation coppice willow or poplar as an energy crop will see an increase from £600 to £1,000 per hectare, the Scottish Executive said.
The announcement by Rhona Brankin has been welcomed throughout the farming and energy industry.
It is thought the rise in funding will also help Scotland reach green energy production targets.
