Tonight, the govt has managed to win the vote on ID cards.

Is it just me, or is this not an absolute waste of money and will contribite nothing to the safety of people in this country?

Also are MPs not supposed to reflect the opinions of the constituents they represent? Why do Labour MPs not do this? Because if they don't vote with the government, then they will probably face de-selection the next time the candidates for the seats are chosen.

It is about time that voters also make MPs accountable for their actions. We are sleep walking into a big brother state.

I disagree.

There's absolutely no need for them.

All it will do is open up Identity fraud even further when the fraudsters are able to trace your retina scan, fingerprints and photos as well as your national insurance number/address - all at once.

No Thanks.

I wouldnae call myself a socialist, but I'm totally against the ID cards. They are far too open to abuse, too expensive and won't do the job they are being introduced to do.

how exactly would the 'giro cheats' as you say afford them?

at about £100 PER PERSON in the uk - how is this going to be affordable.

And with these ID cards being so easy to replicate for fraudsters - the 'giro cheats' will soon find another way to defraud the system.
