Fletcher future in doubt

Peter Moores.

ENGLAND - 154 all out
SOUTH AFRICA - 157-1

South Africa win by 9 wickets.

FORMER Sussex coach Peter Moores is in pole position to replace Duncan Fletcher – but Aussie Tom Moody is still not out of the frame.

A source close to the ECB has revealed a change of England coach is on the horizon and Moores, 44, could breathe fresh air into an England side that has gone stale since the Ashes win in 2005.

Under Moores' direction, Sussex won the second division in 2001, and the County Championship in 2003 – Sussex's first title in their 164-year history.

And as well as his impressive trophy cabinet, Moores has already worked with the next generation of England players, having run the ECB’s academy since 2005.

But despite Moores leading the list of available candidates, there is still a belief in the ECB that Australian Moody could yet be tempted.

Sri Lanka coach Moody was thought to have ruled himself out after it was announced he would take over Western Australia after the World Cup.

But a contract has yet to be signed and the ECB believe the draw of coaching England could prove enough to turn his head.

I have to say Blackleaf, that performace was shocking. England just looked beaten from the off. The first two batsmen were playing like it was a test match and not a ODI, RSA were just swatting the England bowlers all over the place.

It is quite astonishing how far England have dropped in confidence and performace in the last year or two and there doesnt seem to be any specifics tactic for ODIs.

I would start Pieterson and Flintoff batting and attack from the off.
