What is everyone's thoughts on the Hurricane Katrina disaster and how the US Governement acted?

I'm really not too sure what to believe - but I think that if it had been a richer, mainly white area the response would have been much quicker.

I agree, although the failure to act was much more than the failings of one government, we witnessed the inability of the capitalist system to deal with very basic problems, this is because capitalism is a bankrupt and decaying system.

The problem lies far deeper than Bush and his cronies, and the solution is more complex than to simply vote them out.

The problem with New Orleans and with the US in general is not capitalism but rather Federalism with a strong central government, the original design of the US constitution has been destroyed by Federalists and Empire Builders, the only solution is that proposed by the LoS, Southern Party and other seperatist groups which is breaking the ties of the Federal Empire and existing as sovereign states, militarily neutral in global matters but armed to the teeth as protection from foreign invasion.

Don't get me started. Oh man... If I were to rant about this I would violate most of the site rules.

It's all about racism.

The government's respone was criminal - but the more fundamental fact was class. Those who had money to escape did. Those who didn't have money were left to a terrible fate. Empty buses sat on the highways, refusing to take people unless they could pay. Shocked

This is the fault of the local government of NO as well as the state government, while I am no fan of the US federal government, I will say that the locals and state deserve more criticism than they.
