Hello All,
I was wondering what you Old Home Scots think of "Michael of Albany"? I have had some in other forums tell me they believe his claims of who he is and think there was a large Hanoverian coverup while others do not believe him and accuse him of being a delusional egomaniac. I myself do not believe his claims of being a True Stewart, I do however believe that he is a Scottish Patriot who wants freedom from English rule. For those who haven't saw it the link to his website is below.

I've met him the once and he seemed like a nice guy. He certainly has a similar look to the pictures some of the old Stewart monarchs I've seen and he does seem genuinely interested in Scottish Independence above and beyond his personal interests. There is some site that says it disproves his story, but I've never been bothered enough to read it. Either way he will never be king and is of very little importance IMO.

I know Michael pretty well, I'd like to think he is who he says he is. There always will be that niggling doubt though.

I'm 98% believer, dna would be the only way of completely convincing me.

I support his cause - whether his claim is true or not.

I think it would be of great benefit to the status and reputation of Scotland to have our own King back.

Edinburgh and Stirling castles are ghostly and eerie reminders of when Scotland was a proud and independent country. Those days need not be in the past, but in the future again.

Long live HRH Prince Michael
God save the King !!

And if his claim is proven to be false ........... (just my 2% niggle as I do have plenty of admiration for the guy), would you still accept him as our King

If he is who he says he is fair enough, I would never want to deny him his family history. I just don't believe in an hereditary head of state. Lets not forget the route the Stewarts started leading us down in the first place... long before the 'parcel of rouges'.

I am not a monarchist and am not saying Michael IS a Stewart but I do say that there was never a finer royal line than Scotland's own Stewarts, James IV comes to mind Cool

You think? James VI, Charles I, Charles II, James VII spring to mind.

James VII, was indeed not a shining example of good government, the Stewarts did indeed take a downturn after James IV, I still however stand by James IV and James II (James III not a jewel in my opinion) as well as by the rightful Charles III who WOULD have been one of the finest monarchs had he the chance.

That is of course the fundamental problem. You can't choose the morarch. You have to accept the good with the bad.
