This month I am bringing up an older case to show how out of control our courts can be. This is a case form 1993 that is on the books from my own state of Kansas. In it a woman had sexual relations with a boy who was 12. She was a babysitter for him and this relationship carried on for a few years. She had a child when she was 17 and the boy was just 13. Under most state’s law this would be considered as statutory rape. Under Kansas law it can also be considered “contributing to a child’s misconduct”.
The state then came after the boy for compensation for monies paid out in assistance to the mother. This was in the sum of 7000 dollars and also monthly child support of 50 dollars. The court found that even though the boy couldn’t consent to the sex, it did not absolve him of responsibilities to the child.
So under the opinion given forth, no set of factors could possibly keep the father from being liable for child support and paying for a child they had no choice in making. To allow such an egregious distinction greatly reduces my respect for the American court system. Their viewpoint is that if you father a child or act as a father for a child, you are now responsible for the costs of that child. If you are raped it doesn’t matter, you should still pay. And yet it seems society at large does not care if this happens…
What will it take for us to stop this? What will be the final straw to keep this madness from stripping all rights and decisions out of our hands?
Well men… We need to start speaking out. They have come for our property rights during divorce. Our father’s rights when they take away our visitation to our children. And they have even come for our rights to decide whether or not to have a child with someone. If the conditions are met we are pushed down into wage slavery for decisions we have no say in. Are we ready to speak up for our beleaguered brethren? Are we to stay silent hoping that the powers that be don’t come for us????

And how would this work the other way round? If a rapist fathered a child, would he be liable for child support payments? _________________ That'll be that, then. |
