If it does happen, it will be interesting to see how the SNP get along with a Tory Westminster govt.

Tories' poll rating at 16-year high
The Tories led by David Cameron moved into a 16-year poll rating high as they scored 44%, their most popular since the months before the Black Wednesday financial disaster.
All three main parties gained a point in the latest YouGov survey for the Sunday Times, meaning Labour remained 16 points behind with the Liberal Democrats on 17%.
But while Labour did not fall further behind, the poll showed only 11% of voters now expect it to secure an overall majority at the next general election.
And Prime Minister Gordon Brown, who has endured a difficult week amid serious criticism by Labour MPs of his tax policy, also saw his personal rating plummet.
From a peak of plus 48 in September, it has now dropped to minus 37, which the newspaper said was the steepest decline endured by any modern resident of Number 10.
Voters indicated that they would prefer to vote for the party if Tony Blair was still leader - with the Tory lead cut to five points.
Opponents' attacks on Mr Brown as a "ditherer" appear to have resounded with the electorate, with 60% backing that analysis and only 26% calling him "decisive".
Most (57%) said he was "floundering" - with only 14% believing the PM was "in control of events".
YouGov questioned a representative sample of 1,755 voters online, across Britain, on April 10-11.

Such a situation as a Tory England and SNP Scotland will test the Tories Unionist credentials for sure.
IMO - I think it will hasten the break up of the Union. I believe the Tories in England don't give a fig about Scotland.
The only thing they may wake up to is Scotland's true worth financially, this may invoke some kind of defence of the union mechanism. But I don't think it will help the union ultimately.
I am pretty sure the tories will get in down here next time. Everyone seems to accept this as going to happen. |

Politicians don't tend to care about various parts of the country other than perhaps their own.
I doubt Alex Salmond gives a fig about Wigtownshire in particular, but that doesn't stop him representing the entire country.

Your first sentence is probably true.
But Salmond is not just any ordinary politician. He is First Minister. So I dare say he does give a fig about Wigtownshire just as much as he does about Caithness and all the other counties in between.

David Cameron did say he supported a referendum on independence. I'd like to see his attitude when (heaven forbid)/if he is PM after the next election.
