In the run up to the Holyrood and local elections in May, we are opening up this new section of the forum.
Any news relating to the elections should be posted here along with any analysis and discussion of specific regions, constituencies and wards or the elections as a whole.

So, who is putting money on what?
A dead cert is the Western Isles given the high profile Alasdair Allan has secured for himself, but I reckon one to put money on is Annabelle Ewing in Falkirk East. It's not exactly a dead cert but the Labour incumbent is less than hopeless! |

I take it you mean more than hopeless!
Here is my tips!
A Alan to win Western Isles.
A Salmond to win Gordon.
K Shirron to win Aberdeen Central.
J Hepburn to win Cumbernauld and Kilsyth.
Lib Dems to win Edinburgh Central.
C Grahame to win wherever it is.
Nicola Sturgeon to finally win Govan.
A Morgan to take back the seat he lost last time. |

| Well nought really but the Lib Dems are in second place and the SNP Candidate is (Iam told by reliable sources) lazy and rubbish. She is a Kenny clone and done nothing since the list to do any work so we are not going to win there... |

If there is any justice in the world, Annabelle Ewing will win Falkirk East. She was a tremendous MP for Perth, very hard-working and extremely friendly and approachable. It was a travesty that the boundary changes lost her her seat. In addition, Cathy Peattie is appalling.
I have a strange feeling that Salmond's seat of Gordon might be very close, I hope he wins it, because Nora Radcliffe is uninspiring at best.
Most of the SNP gains Katie1984 mentioned, I would agree with, so I'll just mention some interesting seats to me:
Clydesdale: The SNP has a young, active campaigner (Aileen Campbell) against a rather non-descript Labour incumbent (Karen Gillon). Despite Gillon's recent 'award' for being Free Spirit of the Year, I would expect this contest to be very close.
Dumfries: The Tories might take this seat, by virtue of Mike Russell taking votes away from Elaine Murray, and managing to stabilise their own vote.
Glasgow Kelvin: Terrible Labour incumbent in Pauline McNeill, so I expect Sandra White to get very close for the SNP, if not taking it.
Glasgow Cathcart: Surely Charles Gordon will lose.
East Kilbride: Maybe one of the shocks of the night? Linda Fabiani is one of the more vibrant members of the SNP group, so I wouldn't be astonished to see her oust Mr Andy "The Enforcer" Kerr. _________________ "That land is a community is the basic concept of ecology, but that land is to be loved and respected is an extension of ethics" - Aldo Leopold. |

Dundee West - Jo Fitzpatrick and his team have been working very hard there for some time. Shona Robison is a very hard working MSP and has a good personal vote in Dundee East.
Kilmarnock & Loudon should be a good bet too. _________________ I am not a Nationalist because I am proud to be Scottish but ashamed of the state of the country and want it improved |

I hope that this is an exaggeration!
