A foreign spouseDoes anyone writing on this site have a foreign boy/girlfriend or a wife/husband? Have there been any problems with bureaucracy? If your spouses are from other EU-countries, there obviously shouldn´t. But if they are not, what then?
The Danish centre-right government introduced legislation a few years back that no-one can bring a foreign non-EU spouse into the country unless they are both at least 24 years of age and there is sufficient evidence to point that the couple can fend for themselves without being subsidized by the Danish taxpayer. Of course, such a law was considered as racist but it has lately become very widely accepted.

In the UK a non-eu spouse can apply for a visa that will grant them 6 months - one year in the UK with the right to work but not to benefits.
Of course if their husband/wife is an EU citizen they can claim benefits (unless they are from the new EU countries when they cant get benefits until they have paid tax for a full year).
After the 6 months or one year (at the immigration office's discretion) they can apply for five years if they can prove they are living together, the marriage is likely to still be intact in five years and other criteria (not as easy as it sounds).
After that 5 years they can apply for leave to stay.
In this country it often depends which country you are coming from. India, Canada, Australia, and others will have little problem but africans and others have less chance of getting the visas.

Unbelieveable!! But it's ok to welcome with open arms those who wish to destroy our homeland!!
I would rather by far, Africans!

my girlfriend is from Reykjavik but that's EEC and I lived there for a while last year and probably will for sometime this year later, as a EU national you have the right to go to Iceland and seek employment, The Icelandic government brought in a very similar legislation with the age of 24 but that is mostly aimed at the small miniority groups in Reykjavik from Indonesia, Thailand, Phillipines and Africa.
I don't think you should have any problems if your girlfriend/boyfriend is from an EU-EEC country,

Well my wifes Scottish and I'm Welsh, so from this websites point of view I'm a foreign spouse. My wife is now here in Wales with me, not had any difficulties in her working so far. We'll have to look at what happens when Scotland is independent though!
