A little embarrassed but ....Hi all, greetings from Australia. As the subject thread mentioned, it is a little embarrassing to state how I found myself here. But I was showing my young boys Braveheart and could not help but notice the similarities with the denial of freedom to the Macedonians. Which is my ancestry.
I am all for national independence for the Scots and wish you well.
The Macedonians were simply never convenient for the World Powers and continue to be a thorn in Greece, Bulgaria and Albania. I have come here to try to understand why no support has existed for Scottish independence from afar.

Thanks all.
I am really interested in what is being done to preserve an independent Scottish culture and identity in a world that seems to be homogenising as we speak.
I will delve into your historical section, but I cannot find a readily identifiable section dedicated to "culture". Any suggestions for useful threads or sections which can give me an insight into what makes you people tick?
cheers

Risto, welcome mate, we have a great history section with some excellent discussions. there is currently 2 threads about origins of our language(s) which is particularly informative. For reasons I wont go into you can find that discussion under either 'neil olivers history of scotland' or another thread called 'general banter on history for cool people' rather than a heading abour origins of language.
Good point on culture, at the moment it fits into various sections, after you have had a look around, if you still think it needs a separate section then there is a forum for debates on improving the site, your input will be welscome.
Of course, culture is many things to many people, history, language, football, media are all culture.
perhaps there might be cause for a section on 'arts' or even 'popular culture', what do you think? It really depends what subjects you envisage being part of a 'culture' section.
