A-Z old TV

Here's a game where each lists one TV show you remember from childhood. Give the name, a short blurb about it, actors who were in it etc. . .

A
All In The Family

Carroll O'Connor, as Archie Bunker, a bigoted man who lives in Queens NY with his wife, his liberal daughter and son in law.

Not one of my favorites but the only one I could think of beginning with an A, so, who has a B?
Blackadder

Here's a twist to help stretch this out a bit Kaffy ... let's exhaust the A's before hitting the B's ... thereby giving everyone a chance to contribute to each each letter.  We only pass on to B or C when we can't think of any more ... which shouldn't take long with all the doddery old farts over the hill on this forum!   Besides, if you're using American TV ... you've got more crap to remember than us Scots!  Very Happy

You should ignore "The" if it starts the title and use the main word ... for example 'The Avengers'.

A
Andromeda

Kevin Sorbo - Dylan Hunt
Lisa Ryder - Beka Valentine
Gordon Woolvett - Seamus Harper
Lexa Doig - Andromeda / Rommie
Laura Bertram - Trance Gemini
Keith Hamilton Cobb - Tyr Anasazi [ Seasons 1-3 ]
Steve Bacic - Telemachus Rhade [ Seasons 4-5 ]
Brent Stait - Rev Bem [ Season 1 ]
Brandy Ledford - Doyle [ Season 5 ]

In the far future, the Andromeda and her crew attempt to bring order to the and peace to the Galaxy.

(for more A's ... you can choose from Angel; American Idol; 'Allo, 'Allo; Allie McBeal; The Avengers; The A-Team; Auf Wedersehein Pet, All Gas And Gaiters; Ashes to Ashes; Alien Nation; As Time Goes By, Arthur of the Britons; The Army Game; All Creatures Great and Small; Arrested Development; Are You Being Served [you're on that one, Macnumpty! Laughing ]; Alf; The Apprentice .... or think of one yourself.  Hope that helps)
The ever-helpful Edmund, Lord Blackadder (and don't anyone dream of touching that one ... it's mine!)  Laughing
kathyv

OK, All A's for a bit!

BA, there's only one on that list from when I was a kid! The Avengers! (kathyv is in fact an OOOLLLLLDDDDD lady!) LOL Laughing

I did remember this one, barely, I was very young but my Dad watched it.

About Time

2 astronauts crash land to Earth but have gone back in time to startle amazed and confused Cavemen. I remember they went around bashing each other over the head with clubs and dragging mildly protesting cave-women by the hair, back to their caves apparently to commit  dastardly deeds!

No idea who the actors were, it was one of those short lived, early 1960's shows.
Blackadder

Waaaaaaay before my time ... and never heard of it!  If it's cheap American fare, it's unlikely to have been seen on Brit TV.  It's beginning to look like the game's a bogey, Kaffy.  Rolling Eyes
kathyv

That's what happens when you play with young squirts!  Laughing

And if you were spared reruns of a probably really bad 60's American sit com, consider yourself lucky!

How about . . .

The Aadams Family; John Aston, Carolyn Jones, based on the rather depraved cartoons done by Chas. Aadams in the New Yorker Mag. A creepy, kooky family of ghouls live in a wild old house where they scare their neighbors with their odd antics, odder relatives, strange pets and questionable hobbies. The series later spawned several movies which were not badly done considering they were done by 'second generation' Aadams Family watchers! LOL
Blackadder

They're creepy and they're kooky,
Mysterious and spooky,
They're all together ooky,
The Addams Family.
Their house is a museum.
When people come to see 'em
They really are a screa-um.
The Addams Family.
Neat
Sweet
Petite
So get a witch's shawl on.
A broomstick you can crawl on.
We're gonna pay a call on
The Addams Family.

When I was a kid, I sang that at poor kids, substituting their names for the Addams Family.  Laughing  Laughing

If this is just going to be you and me, Kaffy ... I'm not into it. It's not that good a game if others won't join in. It's not supposed to be exclusively for us.

So how about it the rest of you.  Join in?  Or drop it??  It's your choice!
kathyv

Oh well, it was a good try! LOL

You sang that at the poor kids, no wonder Baldrick is confused!
Blackadder

Baldrick was never in with the poor kids. The poor kids were all well above Baldrick.  Baldrick is what you scrape off your shoe.
kathyv

Maybe that would be an interesting story line for a TV Reality Show. . .

Who wants to be scraped off Blackadder's shoe?

Baldrick could be the judge. . .
Blackadder

No ... you really don't want to go there. I mean it!  Stop right there and never speak of it again.

I promise you ... it's an unworthy idea that needed strangling at the moment of inception. You can trust me on this.
kathyv

I don't know, it sounds better than some of the other offers. . .  My Big Breasts and Me, Daddy's Spoiled Little Girl, Bridezillas. . .  TV has reached new lows. Maybe we need a light dusting from the bottom of your shoe! LOL
Blackadder

The problem is ... you're using crappy American TV shows we've never heard of.

We're either missing out ... or TV execs really do know something about programming in this country! Shocked
kathyv

I beg to differ . . . the listings on the BBC America channel include; My Big Breasts and Me, My Tiny Breasts and Me, Too Ugly to Love, Britain's Worst Teeth . . .

Not that American TV has anything to be proud of in this respect.

I think it's time for 'Who Wants to Pay a Millionaire to be My Apprentice Butt Wiper?'

kathyv slips quietly off to watch Masterpiece Theater's version of Pride and Prejudice!
Blackadder

You make your case precisely, concisely and furthermore, to the point.

I rarely watch TV anyway!  Evil or Very Mad
Blackadder

Writing this here cos it is about TV.  What programmes do people like on TV?

Let's face it ... TV is mostly dire these days ... unless you're an idiot ... and to be truthful ... many of the posters here are not complete idiots ... well, except for a few (you know who you are!) so, no names ...

One TV prog stood out over the weekend for me ...

DOCTOR WHO

Did you see it?  That wasn't just telly ... that was a mini-film!  And it was brilliant!!!  Edge of the seat, fast-paced, infuriating scientific dialogue, well-acted and well-produced ... and DAVROS was back!!!  Very Happy   My year is complete!

Seriously ... there's nothing can touch the Doctor for the best Sci Fi on the box at the moment ... and next week ... it's on for over an hour!!!  YAY!!  There IS a God, Stacy!!!  Very Happy   I'm hooked!!!  Very Happy
