This forum contains many light hearted threads and posts. It is by far the least nasty political forum around and, in general, good natured and balanced.
If people are going to start making posts that are designed to discourage people from taking part in the fourm then you should consider leaving.
Why tell others not to take part?
Thin-skinned people are welcome and have nothing to fear from Our-Scotland

Oh and btw ... Rin-tin-tin ... we have ALWAYS maintained the open-ness of this part of the board. If ANYONE thinks we're not welcoming, them they're the one with a problem.
We LOVE people ......... fried, roasted, boiled, no matter ... only Carol can eat a whole one!!!

Rinty, I posted the topic about thin skinned folk because another similar forum, on another site got closed because it was thought to be offensive and it was actually a lot less offensive than this banter section. We all ken each other fine and know the comments and name calling are just light hearted fun, but there ar some who would not find oour quirky forum acceptable.

I dont see anything in this forum, in any section, that is more nasty and bad-mannered than other forums.
I didnt see a section being closed down recently, this was posted, in my opinion, as part of the 'jim is unfair on carol' campaign which is a subsidiary of the Larger "dave's a b****rd' campaign.

You really haven't got the hang of me at all if that's what you're thinking.

You used to be a decent poster here and I always considred you to be funy and freindly.
But this getting out of hand, there is no injustice, just a huff.
Why don you al just stamp your feet and scream until dave gets banned, will that be justiove.
This has to be a joke surely.
I think in future you and I should steer clear of debate, it's a pity but this hostility is uncallef for and certainly not deserved and it is the first I have faced in my 5 years of being a mod on this site.
Most adults just accept it and move on, especially from a mod and a forum who ver rarely intervene and try to encourage debate without moderation.

No-one is stamping their feet or throwing a hissy fit, and no-one wants anyone banned, but some input from the mods when PM's are made public would be appreciated.
As a moderator on another large forum, I would have jumped very quickly on that. While it may not be in the forum rules, perhaps it should be. It is indiscreet to say the least.

I only wanted even-handed fairness, and he should have been told off since he was as much at fault as Carol was for dragging up old business ... and it was stuff I knew nothing about.
I have to say though, that I think you've got fairly hot under the collar for no real reason, other than defending your mate. Even you've made an inflammatory remark or two.
I thought moderators weren't supposed to do that.
But you're essentially right .... it's all got so out of hand.
What do we do now? Cos I don't want to bicker with you or anybody really! I just want find out what you did with birds that were nesting in your beard!!!

Dave is not my mate, if have no connection to him and have only ever conversed with him here on this forum. Carol, on the other hand is a comrade through Solidarity as our party supports IF so I, by affiliation, do too. She also sends me emails of IF activities, Dave has no email contact with me outside of this forum. If I was to be biased towards anyone in this spat it would be carol and IF, but I am not biased - I call it as I see it.

Moderators are just forum members who volunteer to help azzurri. We are no different from anyone else and the things we are "supoposed to do" (or not) apply to us as they do to all members.
I dont think that I have made an inflamatory remark at all, but knowing how sensitive you lot are I am not surprised that you read it as so.
It is you who is escalating it with your call for forum members to be restricted in what we talk about poltically, supported by Mairead. As I asid, failed organisdations can be invaluable lessiosn in politics and the idea that we shouldnt talk about it is ridiculous. I will oppose your call and keep oposing it.

I obviously picked you up wrong regarding any friendship with Coolio ... and I sincerely apologise to you, Rinters.
I still think you got it wrong in not pulling up two members, instead of just the one, over their old business. However, I'm prepared to let that go in the interests of peace on the board. I made my feelings known and if you want to draw a line under that, fair enough. I just hope it doesn't stop Carol posting.
Maybe I wasn't clear enough, but I thought the IF stuff should be on the Politics thread. I am certainly not trying to restrict anyone in their posts. I just don't see the point of introducing a subject like IF into anywhere else, when I, and perhaps others, have no idea what it is about.
I thought IF was an SNP group, but you mention Solidarity ... so I guess I'm confused. Generally I avoid political threads because of my own problems with the Young Socialists and later the way the Labour party has gone. Don't get me started on that ... I get too angry.
And what I'm doing, I do off my own back! There is NO collusion between myself, Carol and Mairead. There is NO "team"! I don't even know the ladies outside of these threads ... and though we do seem to be in agreement, maybe that's just because we're like-minded individuals.
I never intended to upset anyone, certainly not a moderator ... not even now. I like the Banter thread and the History, since it is a passion of mine in certain respects. So I hope we can get back to some kind of normality (?) here and put all of this behind us.
It's easy to get all stoked up behind the anonymity of the Internet and and a keyboard ... I for one do not want the bickering to continue, but I do reserve the right to speak up when I think something is wrong. Is that so wrong?
