BBC Scotland message boardsThe closure of the Soapbox and Scot Chat boards was inevitable they were a laughing stock. The Soapbox was used for personal messages there were no serious issues just silly banter in fact the posts were more Yahoo than BBC, the BBC had no other option but to close the boards.

All the English regional boards seem to be even less serious. Why haven't the BBC cut them?

The Soapbox was there to discuss the serious issues that concern Scotland in was not used in that context. It was used on a one-to-one basis a personal chat board the soapbox was not for that. It was a soapbox not a personal message board, the BBC was well within their rights to close the board.
