Bit of surname help if ye pleaseDoing a bit of family research and found a Scottish name (or what the internet tells me is one anyway); McConnell. Kinda stuck in a hole with this. Can ye tell me what part of Scotland this name is most common? Also if ye could tell me if it's more Catholic or Protestant? Knowing what religion they might have been could help with seeing which church I need to go to. Have a heavily mixed religious background so it's not that easy.
Thanks all!

Have a look here;

Hope it's of some help.
And in future, please remember to say "My Lord". It's customary when addressing a superior.
You're welcome.

Sorry if this confuses things, Irish Prod, but Collins' Scottish Surnames says:
MacConnell
In Scotland this usually a varient of MacDonald, and found in the southwest, where Gaelic spelling was more than usually erratic. There are however Irish MacConnells, from the personal name Conall.

Wonder if it has any links too to the village called Connel, outside Oban.
