Blair sets a dateTony Blair announced today that he will step down as PM and party-leader on June 27th. There will be a seven-week leadership-campaign to succeedhim. It would be a miracle of gigantic proportions if someone else than Gordon Brown becomes Blair`s successor. However, Brown`s leadership-bid will almost certainly be challenged. The fact that Brown is Scottish has caused some resentment and this nationality-card will be played during the leadership campaign.
Blair has been PM for 10 years. His government introduced devolution for Wales and Scotland. The Tories would never have done that but nowadays even they acknowledge the merits of devolution.
Blair`s premiership has been shattered ever since he made the decision to participate alongside the US in the war against Iraq. The British PM has traditionally been described as a poodle of the yankees but perhaps no-one else more so than Blair.
What are your thoughts? Will we actually miss Blair after Brown has been PM for some time?

I doubt many will miss Blair other than the Labour MPs who fail to get reelected at the next UK election with Brown as their leader. Brown won't be able to walk over the Westminster Parliament as Blair has done.
Regarding devolution, if Blair had been in a bit longer, I doubt he would have supported it.
