BNP to consider non-white members

I can't imagine this will be going down with a HUGE number of their membership!

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/8308582.stm

Ironically though could such a move make the BNP more acceptable, enhancing their charm offensive, despite what will continue to by their founding principle?

It might not go down well with the foot soldiers, but the BNP will be able to spin it to say that they're coming out of the dark ages ... dragged might be closer to the truth - although behind closed doors I'd imagine not at all.
Holebender

Why would any non-white person want to join?
Stevie

Next they'll be putting up black face Swedish models as candidates to win the relevant demographic vote.

It would not surprise me if the BNP pick up a couple of seats in the looming Westminster election...... 3 seats would surprise me though.
Stevie

They are a lost and found fad of politics.  They are popular until the electorate become bored of the issue that pushed them into the public forum.

They will dissipate, disappear and dissolve into an acrimonious bunch of self-loathing popular factions.

They won't be popular though.

Eventually, the remaining 'BNP' will meld with the equally disappearing UKIP.

It's always possible another scenario will arise but I doubt it...

UKIP and BNP hate each other though.

They picked up 3 MEPs! I agree with your sentiments though, I also believe it will be no more than a short lived protest. The electorate will seriously examine them if they EVER looked like taking anything close to power.

One of the big problems for Far Right groups is that, if you believe in having a Strong Leader, it matters a  LOT  who your Fuehrer is. So, while Far Left groups sometimes fall out about obscure ideological issues, Far Right groups are more likely to  fall out about who gets to be Number One. I remember in the 70s, the main Far Right group in British politics was the National Front, and the "National Activities Organiser" (number one thug) for the NF was Martin Webster. The Far Right loved him, the Left hated him. But then rumours began to circulate about Webster's homosexuality. Some in the NF decided they couldn't follow a poofter, because, if they did, folk would think they were poofters too. And that was what caused a split, and led to the NF being eclipsed by the BNP. There were no real ideological differences between them.

Speaking of

self-loathing
it is no great secret that the top leadership of the National Socialist Democratic Workers Party of Germany (to give them their full title) included several whose sexual preferences were far from "straight", and yet they sent hundreds of thousands of gays to the gas chambers.

You would be surprised if you have been to some English cities recently.

Campaigning in the town centres and quite a few people are buying into the BNP rhetoric esp. in places which would not vote Tory.

if you do not know why the trailer trash, squirell shooting, tornado bait, webbed footed baffoons join the bnp then you really are dafter than you make out.

they remind me of the doomed and pointless socialist parties that had a little success a few years ago in scotland. wee bit of success, some 'pr' and all is well, but ultimately extremists get found out and voted out. it happened to the ssp and will happen to the bnp.

you've fallen into the trap of thinking that the BNP is only attractive to the white, brit, skin head type fraternity.  Not so. Plently of non-white in the UK share the same ideals as the BNP.
Stevie

Actually, I've got no idea what the BNP stand for.
Fidget

You mean that you cast a vote yet you've no idea about any of the policies of the parties on the voting sheet? Goodness - it's Vicky Polloard! "I vote that one just cause I've always voted that one, and Agnes votes that one as well and she's dead nice cause she gets me fags out the butchers for £3 so I vote that one." Laughing
Holebender

Well there is the small matter of wanting to remove all non-white people from Britain. How many non-white British citizens would jump at the chance of signing up for a party with that kind of idea?

However, I am well prepared to believe Fidget knows BNP policy inside out and will be itching to enlighten us all.

some of your posting about politics are now more easy to understand.
Stevie

I suppose my lack of interest in fascists is to my eternal detriment but as Holebender intimates, I'm sure you can enlighten me.

Go on then... I await the great period of Fidgety enlightenment.

Oh dear, and that makes 700 posts...

I see their membership list has been leaked...again.

They, Nick Griffin anyway, seems to have a big shiny red button and in the absence of any other brain activity has seen fit to press it.  If only he had paid more attention at school he'd have been able to read the upper case type immediately below it:

BNP SELF DESTRUCT BUTTON

The press are having a field day ...

The problem with the rise in the BNP vote is the fact that the lumpen proletariat in the housing estates have now no-one to stick up for them and are turning increasingly to Griffen & Co.

Politics is the domain of the middle chattering classes. The LP feel left out and ignored so they are attracted to the BNP who offer a simplistic solution
that other parties dont - they rarely venture into these estates.

There was an article on the BBC News last week about an estate in Leicester. A number of people conducted an exhaustive survey on various issues and handed out questionnaires. Few were handed back and eventually they found out why.

A large number of people in the estate, it turned out, had a reading age of SEVEN!

Now think about it, the Labour government has invested billions of pounds in education since it came to power 12 and a half years ago.

This is a shocking indictment of their failed poilicies. Where, exactly, has the money gone ?????????????????????????????????????????????????/???/
Rinty

are an increasing number of people turning to the BNP?  Griffin didnt see a rise in his vote, he was elected due to falling support for other parties rather than a rise in support for his party.
landg

as i sai the bnp will (and it seem they are) heading the way of all extreme right and left parties. burn bright for a wee while then fade away when people see through their nonsense.
