Still feeling gutted after Saturday's outcome, but the result tonight brought a wee smile back to my face.

as a guy whose not automatically wanting england to do badly even im annoyed when part of the reason for Steve Mclaren losing his job is (taken from http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/internationals/7100393.stm)

thats the problem with the england team they got so lucky ALL the time that they assume the DO have a divine right to qualify, i may just be trying to big up Scotland here but we've learned over the past 10 years that if we're going to get ANYWHERE we will have to fight real hard, while the england team is to prone to believing its own press in assuming they're the best team ever, despite all evidence to the contrary.
Damn BBC commentators last night just before croatia's lovely first goal saying "wouldnt it be brilliant if England scored an early goal" as if its a foregone conclusion theyd win...pfft

Quite frankly, I couldn't give a toss either way whether England qualified or not.

NI played well as well despite going down 1-0 to Spain, by no means a disgrace.
This campaign will have doen their ranking no harm at all, and will hopefully mean they are in pot 3 or pot 4 for the WC qualifiers.

They were amazingly bad. It was like watching Airdie; same punt down the middle from the halfway line, same ploughed field.

What do you mean by "home internationals"? We have matches at Hampden all the time.

Would be good to have a game or two against England. Don't think it will happen cause I don't think England will want it to happen and I doubt whether any English fans would care either way.
Reckon there's a good chance of the 'celtic cup' competition happening though.

if england are not involved it will be a non-starter.

Well England have been pretty clear that they don't want to be involved - and yet it still seems to be a 'starter'. Perhaps it is just for you and others of your mindset that it's a non-starter.

scotland v england gets the heart pumping, scotland v wales or norn ireland. mediocre at best. i'm not sure what my mindset is but if it invloves scotalnd playing teams above them in the world rankings and present a challenge, i'm all for it. a wee 2-leg affair against the auld enemy would be brilliant.

Well according to the BBC website, England have just a week left to decide to get involved. With or without them, it looks like the competition will be going ahead. In fact maybe without England involved the other games will have a higher profile and create new rivalries for the Scotland fans.

Brilliant, something else the Daily Express can highlight that the English are excluded from by those nasty Celts...

Brilliant news - gives an excuse for wee jaunts to Dublin, Belfast and Cardiff.
