What are the most famous/nicest castles in scotland? If you had to go to some, which ones would you go to?

Many of the less known/accessable ones are also well worth a visit & can be quite an adventure as well. Gight, Findlater, Auchindoun, Yester, Inverugie & Dunure spring to mind. Smile

The Fortified House in Scotland, by Nigel Tranter (5vol) is a worthwile read - especially for many of the less well-known places.

I've been in Culzean, Edinburgh and Stirling castles. Quite interested in them. I also like the ruined ones, kind of eerie feel about them.
