Guess who's backThis 'respected finance expert' has re-surfaced.
Can you guess who it is before clicking on the link? Clue - He is attacking the SNP again.

he's right though.

He is indeed correct.

No, I don't think that he is correct, he is as usual making pessimistic assumptions and guesses. This is the man who stated that independence would leave a £10 billion blackhole in finances; does that still hold?
Anyway, I'm not too bothered by his latest predictions of doom. I'm more concerned with the exposure that this man's utterances receive in spite of his track record. His opinions are all too frequently given headline status with no obvious counterbalance.
Oh, did you guess who it was before looking at the article?

It is a bit hard to take anything he says at face value. The BBC are only picking up on the story because he has been advising Labour. If they had some comments from some other 'public fincance experts', then I might take more notice.

Can't be having the proles knowing things, eh?
Ach, I take your point I suppose. But exactly when have the newspapers ever given counterbalance to a government in power? They'll likely seek a soundbyte from some Exec official, who'll make some ridiculously clichéd remark and everyone will ignore it.

I was hoping from the thread title alone that Maggie had offered to lead the Scottish Tories... or at least Michael Forsyth.

It wouldn't be our non-economist expert on economics would it?
I'm guessing seasonally appropriate name? - although he usually only jumps out of the box to scare the children and horses at pre-election times. I'm guessing he has trailed out the usual GERS based nonsense instigated by Thatcher and Forsyth? or is it the everyone will lose £5000 a year if the SNP get in? I would also guess that this latest cabaret was prepared because of the election that never was.

Well considering Thatcher wasn't around when Forsyth was Scottish Secretary, that'd be a bit tricky!

He did, however, serve as a Scottish Office minister under Thatcher.
