If I were Scotland Manager....I would go with
Gordon
Caldwell Weir Naysmith
Fletcher Hartley McCulloch Teale McFadden
Boyd O'Connor
for the Scotland game tomorrow. But whatever McLeish decides, there HAS to be two up front for this game. Fair enough for the France game, you wouldn't expect it, but we have to go out and try to win these kind of games. Roy Aitken has been hinting that it will be an attacking formation, but we will have to wait and see.
Six points would be an absolute dream from these two games, but I think the best we will get is three. What are the bets of us losing tomorrow and beating France? It would just be typical Scotland

I think that 6 would be a fantastic result, more likely but still brilliant 4 points i feel.
Although your right enough RH the three will come from France

Naysmiths out.
I'd go:
Gordon
Whittaker McManus Weir McEvely
Fletcher Brown McCulloch
Maloney O Connor McFadden
3 up front when going forward and five in midfield when we're on the back foot

Gordon
Hutton Weir McManus Mceveley
Hartley Fletcher Brown McCulloch
Boyd O'Connor
Team according to Sky Sports. Looks pretty good to me.

Well we've got France, Ukraine, Georgia and Italy to go. I think we're going to have to take something from three of those four games to qualify, so we may as well start with France!

I'd say a draw against Italy and France would be good results. Play for good wins at Georgia and Ukraine. Hope France can take some points from Italy and Ukraine to help the Scots.

What an odd little world you live in Parkie. Life is so much better if you aren't carrying around as much hatred.
Great win by Scotland, for the second game I've been really impressed with Scott Brown. The guy's like a terrier, never tired. Even at the last minute he was still running around like he'd just gone on the pitch.
Great player, probably Scottish Player of the Season in my opinion.

gordon and mcmanus were superb, brown-hmmmmmmm. spent too much time chasing the ball, a wee bit headless chicken at times. his worst perfomance for scotland so far.

He He, we even eclipsed England's result in the media down here!!
The goal was an absolute peach.
Well done to Wales also Cymro, shame that it'll be probably in vain, cracking result nevertheless.

Ah we knew it was in vain, even the drunkest optomist (me) realised long ago that any hope of qualification is beyond us. A good result for the pride though - we lost 5-1 to them when we played in Cardiff. I was in Oban at the time, after some nagging I got the local pub to show the match. I've never had as much piss ripped out of me after that match - especially as Scotland also beat France later that day too!
We're preparing for World Cup 2999!

It is that time again - international week.
It is a massive week for Scotland. Do we even dare to think about qualifying from a group which includes the World Champions and the World Cup Runners-up?!?!
This time next week we will know if the dream is still alive or not. First up is Ukraine. Any team with Shevchenko (sp?) in their team, have to be taken seriously.
But hopefully they will be saying, "Any team with Kris Boyd or Shaun Malloney in it has to be taken seriously."
C'mon Scotland

Think I will have to go to the pub to watch the game since I only have council TV
Getting a bit nervous I have to say. People are bumming up Scotland to death and that is usually when we fall flat on our faces. The current crop of players won't go down without a fight though and I think will give 100% no matter what the result.
Think McLeish has to go with two up front again. Any of the forwards, Beattie, Boyd, McFadden, Maloney, Miller and O'Connor will present problems. I'd go with Boyd and Miller.

Thank goodness he did
Absolutely fantastic result for Scotland. Even though we were favourites at the bookies, this was a really tough game for us.
A couple of players are out for Wednesday, but it looks as if Fletcher is back. Even if we get something in Georgia, it will still be a tough ask to get something out of Italy in our last game. Though we should be jumping up the Fifa rankings which will hopefull mean that we will get an easier qualifying group for the next World Cup.
Altough it would be great to be going to Euro 2008

Great game indeed! And some great goals again! We really shouldn't have been favourites btw, I think that was just skewed here cause of so many Scots backing the team. I think Ukraine were favourites in the rest of Europe.
I think we still need three points off Georgia. Will be difficult with Brown out, but hopefully Fletcher will make it back in.

Fletcher looks being back to replace Brown and Murty has been called up to replace Hutton.
I prefer Murty anyway, as he has more experience of playing against top wide players.
I'd go with:
Gordon
Murty, Weir, McManus, Naysmith
McFadden, Ferguson, Fletcher, McCulloch, Pearson
Miller
If it is not going well then push McFadden forward and bring on maloney as right winger.
|
azzuri
|
Have to trust McLeish's judgement whichever lineup he puts out.
If we get the 3 points against Georgia then I can honestly say that qualification will be a bonus to me. We'll have done everything asked of us in this group. If we get beat by Italy at Hampden (as most expect we will do) then we'll have brought so much pride back to Scottish football that qualification is almost irrelevant. We'll hopefully be in pot 2 for the WC qualifiers which should theoretically give us a much easier draw than the last 2 groups we've had.
Scotland for the top 10 in Fifa rankings?

Another great win for Scotland. Shows what you can achieve with confidence!
Football is too difficult at the moment though - Wales where an embarrassment, Wrecsam managed to throw a much needed 2-0 lead away and loose 3-2, wqhile England won so I should hate football by rights.
And don't even talk to me about rugby......AAAAARGH

Well, I guess we had to expect it. If you have followed Scotland over the years, you will know that nothing is ever easy.
The team have performed exceptionally up to this point and admittedly we have ridden our luck at times. Unfortunately it caught up with us tonight, but I don't think we can be too critical of the team.
Let's not forget qualification is still within our own hands. If we looked at the table and were given that option come the last game, I would have taken it.
The problem is that it is against the World Champions.
But as I was always taught when I was growing up. The bigger they are - the harder they fall.
Bring it on.....
