Independence First, the independence referendum campaign, is launching a branch in Edinburgh on Sunday the 9th of July at ‘the Wash’ bar (3pm).

Alan McCombes (SSP) and Bill Wilson (SNP) and others will be speaking at the meeting. We intend to get a branch committee set up at the meeting and also discuss upcoming events including IF’s pro-democracy rally at the end of September.

Independence day on Mound

INDEPENDENCE First, the grassroots campaign for a referendum on Scottish independence, will officially launch its Edinburgh branch on Sunday.

Publisher and author Kevin Williamson will chair the meeting at The Wash bar on The Mound at 3pm.

Speakers will include Bill Wilson of the Scottish National Party, Alan McCombes of the Scottish Socialist Party, Eric Canning of the Communist Party of Scotland and former MSP Lloyd Quinan.

Spokesman Joe Middleton said: "This meeting is for everyone who supports Scottish independence."

. Bit disappointing.

There is a report on the meeting here though http://www.independence1st.com/edinburgh_branch.shtml. Sounds like it was pretty successful, so hopefully that means there will be plenty more Edinburgh branch meetings.
