Clare Short MP will deliver this year's James Keir Hardie Memorial Lecture in the Labour founder's hometown of Cumnock on Tuesday (16 Sep).
This year is the centenary of Keir Hardie's decision to resign from the leadership of the Labour Party. One hundred years later Ms. Short will look at the dilemmas facing Keir Hardie at that time and her own relationship with Labour.
The event is in it's seventh year with former speakers including Tommy Sheridan, Rosemary Byrne, George Galloway and Colin Fox.
The lecture is held in the Cumnock Congregational Church, where Keir Hardie was a member before splitting with the church. The Rev. Jason Boyd will also speak on 'Faith Shaping Politics', Keir Hardie's conflict with his church, and personal conflict between his faith and his political beliefs.
