Labour Meltdown

A whole new batch of ministers have resigned:

John Hutton, Defence Secretary
Caroline Flint, Europe Minister
Tony McNulty, Employment Minister
Geoff Hoon, Minister for Slip-on Shoes

Paul Murphy, Governor General for Wales has been sacked
Margaret Beckett, Housing Minister has been sacked sacked

Former minister Stephen Byres has backed James Parnell's position.

Labour have lost 250+ councillors and all four councils. Lancashire, Staffordshire, Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire have all returned to the Tories for the first time since 1977.

The end is nigh.

The end is nigh, and I think it could be slow and painful.

Top class blog by Mr Eugenides.

Captured the essence of the shambles today perfectly.

Am I right in believing that Labour don't control a single county council in England?

Don't know about the councils that weren't contested on Thursday, but they lost all the ones they were fighting .

Looks like the meltdown is in full swing.  Ed Balls is apparently unhappy he never got into No 11, so he is refusing to talk to Mandy.

There are also another two women ministers threatening to resign.
