Lib Dems rule out Labour dealTavish Scott on the Politics Show saying that the have ruled out any deal with Labour. So they could still support a Labuor minority government, but they won't go into a coalition. No way they're going to accept any sort of referendum as part of a deal with the SNP though.
Patrick Harvie sounding very positive regarding a deal with the SNP.

we have to face facts that we don't have enough seats to push through a referendum so that will have to wait until the next Holyrood elections. If we tried it would be voted down. That will remove the obstacle to forming a coalition, sadly.

what about the constiutional convention idea?
http://www.sundayherald.com/news/...dnews/display.var.1379914.0.0.php
If snp/lib dems let someone else weigh-up the options then they could join in a coalition whilst avoiding U-turns. Although I reckon the snp would be performing a bit of a U-turn..
But surely this would be the best way forward since the nats are obviously confident in the case for independence and the lib dems are confident that it would be a disaster (although they want more powers for the scottish parlaiment). I've not heard any response from the lib dems or any other parties on this idea. Anyone heard anything? Do you think the lib dems would agree to that?

I think that, just like the SNP as a party, the SNP's supporters have also move on and grown up in recent years. I don't think many people will have a problem with dropping the referendum if that's what has to be done. It's not about U-turns, it's about compromise. That said, the Lib Dems need to be seen to be compromising as well.
Regarding independence, out time will come. A Tory government in Westminster, SNP proven in Holyrood, Labour useless in opposition, rising English nationalism...
