NEW SCOTLAND KIT LAUNCHED TODAY Thursday, 24 Aug 2006
The Scottish FA and Diadora are delighted to unveil the new Scotland
home kit today. It will be worn for the first time in Scotland's
opening Euro 2008 qualifier against the Faroe Islands on Saturday, 2
September.
The new kit has been designed and developed using revolutionary new
fabrics and the latest Diadora design techniques combined with
classical Italian styling, to ensure that the team have the very best
playing and training apparel available.
Among the features on the shirt is the inclusion of the word `Alba'
(Gaelic for Scotland) on the backs of the shirts. Colin Banks, SFA
Marketing Manager, explained: "This was added in response to numerous
requests from our fans, including the Association of Tartan Army
Clubs. It is done in recognition of Scotland's Gaelic heritage, and we
believe we are the first Scotland national team in any sport to make
this gesture."
Diadora, the famous Italian sportswear manufacturer, recently signed a
new four year deal with the Scottish FA to extend their relationship
as the Official Kit Manufacturer for the Scotland National Team. Under
the new deal, Diadora will continue to design and manufacture all
official SFA apparel and equipment and for the first time supply the
official match balls.
Peter Terry, Managing Director of Diadora UK, commented: "The new home
kit we have designed not only looks great but is at the cutting edge
of kit technology and we look forward to watching Scotland wearing it
as they bid to qualify for Euro 2008."
The home kit is available from the Scottish FA's merchandise partner
at www.officialscotlandshop.com either online or by phoning 0845 073
1873. It is also now on sale at Intersport outlets and Greaves Sports
shops around Scotland.

This is a very positive step for the Gaelic language. An example is that recently i was in a pub and a Spanish born man, who is a regular, asked me about what Alba was and was very interested once i told him. This may raise the languages profile internationally .
