Blackleaf should look at his FactsThis is from a while back with the quote from topic Kernow
'Even Scotland was invaded by the Saxons - who do you think founded Edinburgh?'
Wrong
'The origin of the city's name is understood to come from the Brythonic Din Eidyn (Fort of Eidyn) from the time when it was a Gododdin hillfort.' from Wikipedia
Also the name in welsh for Edinburgh is Caeredin which hints at a celtic past or even earlier.
This post might be fussy about one minor detail but ignorance, false claims against the celts and pre cultures is the last thing the celtic nations need in the drive for greater autonomy.
Especially so in these 'modern Britain' times of people becoming less aware of the ancient history of Britain due to the post-Norman centric education of history by the government in England ,by the BBC to children and the nation as a whole and the bull were all 'British' (as if monocultural!)
If I had never read history books or had information handed down from relatives I would completely be oblivious to the fact that the non- germanic 'people' and 'culture' and nations of britain have been here before the germanic culture and have the same if not more right to govern themselves as England does to itself and others.
