The English Premier League starts on 16th August.
The Scottish Premier League starts on 9th August.
Here are a few stats about the SPL:
1) St Mirren are the only team to have been promoted into the SPL twice (the SPL was born in 1998).
2) Dunfermline Athletic are the only team to have been relegated from the SPL twice.
3) Since the inception of the SPL in 1998, Celtic have won the most games (280). Rangers are next with 256 wins, followed by Hearts with 156 wins, Kilmarnock with 134 and Hibs with 133.
4) Gretna have the fewest wins in the SPL, with only 38.
5) The SPL's greatest scorer of all time is Celtic's Henrik Larsson, with 242 goals, followed by Kris Boyd, who played for Kilmarnock and now Rangers, with 114 goals.
6) The most goals scored in a season was 105 by Celtic in season 2003/04.
7) St Johnstone scored the fewest goals in a season, just 24, in 2001/02.
8 ) On 5th April 2008, just 431 fans wached Gretna VS Inverness (in England, only divisions such as the Blue Square Premier get that amount).
9) The most goals ever scored in an SPL match was 11 - Motherwell 5-6 Aberdeen in 1999/00.

If Gretna had won 38 games in the SPL, they would have been champions last season and I doubt they would have gone bust.
