Saint Andrew's Day Rally - Edinburgh

www.standrewsdayrally.com

Don't think this has been mentioned on the site. Don't think it's been advertised that well at all acually. There's also information on a ticketed evening event on the site. From the official site:

Quote:
The Saint Andrew's Day Rally web site was started on the 5th of December 2003, following the inaugural parade in Edinburgh on Saturday the 29th of November 2003. The Rally has now become a regular annual event, and last year's rally took place on Saturday, the 26th of November 2005. This year we will hold the rally on Saturday 25th November 2006 and fully intend to increase the number of participants yet again. It is growing.

The muster will be in East Market Street (just up from the Hebrides Bar) at the later time of 16:00, with a march-off time of 16:30 pm. Led by the Stockbridge Pipe Band as always, marching across Waverly Bridge and then turning left onto Princes Street, the march carries on straight down Princes Street, and then up Lothian Road to Festival Square for the speeches. This year's featured speakers include the "Walk for Wallace" author and historian David R. Ross, Independence First press officer Joe Middleton and (to be confirmed) Robbie the Pict.

hopefully there's a good turn out, haven't seen it advertised much either. Unlikely to be there as I've an IF meeting on the Sunday

Well I've managed to miss all the previous ones since it started, but I should be there for this one. Be good if there was a decent turn out.

I went on the rally. Good turnout I thought, looked good as we marched along Princes St, the street lined with onlookers who looked really interested. Disappointed at the end, a lot of folk left and it was really difficult to hear anything the first speaker, Robbie the Pict, was saying. I ended up having to leave before he finished. How were the other speakers and the evening event?

Didn't know about that. Was that in Glasgow?

Rinty is the Glasgow one not just an anti-racism one?

Unfortunately I couldn't manage the Edinburgh one

yes dissapointed myself a few left, robbie has always been that way not speaking very loudly, always has done and always will, thats why a had to just basically stand close to him to hear what he was saying. Davie Ross as his usual self was great, this man must go through his head everything that went on in scottish history everyday.

Evening event was great, Fiery Jack were outstanding and were much better than gaberlunzie, who only done one set, they were supposed to close the event but never did

Yes the Glasgow one is an anti-racism one but it is on St Andrews day to promote the idea that Scotland is for all people, not just scots, its very well orgainsed and has a very good turnout.

I was a bit pissed off I had to leave before Davie Ross spoke. Was keen to hear that one. Had to head off though.

Ritny, the Glasgow rally sounds like it went well. But at the end of the day, there's no way I would have made it over to Glasgow for it. I think there should be enough room for something to go on in both cities, nevermind elsewhere for that matter.
