Slow day for journalists: trot out the anthem question or Glasgow-Edinburgh rivalries.
I'm sick to death about hearing about the anthem. It's a sign of our provinciality and insecurity. The truth is that if the politicians get their hands on it, we'll end up with something bland which a) offends no one, and b) inspires no one, like "Advance Australia Fair". |

"The third verse..."? Has there ever been any consensus on this so-called verse? No, because it's a bullshit story and if we were to consider every bit added on to GSTQ as somehow official it would have multiple hundred verses.
However I hold the Third Verse of that song to be the 'from every latent foe...' one. |
