Should Mugabe be stripped of his degree?Increasing calls for the University of Edinburgh to strip Mugabe of his honorary doctorate. Peter Hain adding his voice today. Should the university remove this degree asap and make a political statement while doing so or would this just be a pointless act that will benefit no-one in Zimbabwe.

I don't think it will make any difference, but they should still strip him of it if only to distance themselves from him and show their public disapproval.

I read somewhere that Nicolae Ceaucescu had been awarded with an honorary GCB, but that it was rescinded. If such a radical, forward-thinking institution as Buckingham Palace can rescind honorary titles, surely the University of Edinburgh can follow suit?
