Pretty emphatic result.
Seems to be no let up in the SNP momentum.

...need to be careful and not complacent. This isn't necessarily because the SNP are doing anything right, it's just that Labour are screwing EVERYTHING up SO badly.

Just back from a weekend away.
Cannot emphasise how amazed I am by this result. I stood in that ward twice back in the FPTP days and since Inverclyde had the 2nd lowest SNP support in Scotland at the time I came 3rd to Lab and LibDem both times.
Inverclyde seemed entirely enthralled to Labour and LibDem parties.
I know Innes and he is a very good candidate, just wish he had seen the light and joined the SNP 10 years ago. However, the sigificance of this result is that it is the first council by-election to NOT go the way of the leading electoral region party.
I was sure that when my old friend Kenny Ferguson died that the seat would go down as a 'gain' for labour, like those in Glasgow, even with a swing to the SNP. This result shouldn't have happened but it has.

This momentum could be very useful as is shown, hopefully the SNP can build on a scandal that they have came through mostly unscathed.

another by-election tomorrow in the Sidlaw/Monifieth ward on Angus Council following the death of SNP councillor Frank Ellis. SNP should hold the seat. Not counting until Friday.
