snp poster

or here if the photo link fails to work http://news.scotsman.com/politics.cfm?id=85252007

The snp campaign has been really good and professional i think for the past 12 months. A minor point really that this poster campaign doesn't really do anything for me. Sure, it gets an artical in the newspaper but "the right to choose" is associated with abortion and nothing else.

For what it worth, I can (because im interested in the topic) remember quite a lot of SNP trailer ads being launched. I doubt that the general public can. Some are good and some best forgotten. However i have never ever seen one in my constituency or in the city of glasgow which i frequent often in day to day life. As far as i can remember the billboards are usually bought up months in advance by Labour or Tories.

I'm sure there are different opinions on the importance of billboard Ads but its just something I think the SNP has never really done enough. Its 'normal' and there is an expectation to see parties of government have prime sites on the way to city centres - but not us unfortunately.

Don't lose faith Skip; there appears to be a lot of evidence that mass communication is moving towards the net and away from the traditional methods.
That is a superb little poster with the crossed flags by the way!

I'm impressed with the way things have been going so far. Conferences, tv and webcasts, press releases and fundraising. We must be capturing more column inches than before too.

I'd like to think you are right that traditional methods are changing. The worldwide web especially provides a level playing field where we can organise and publicise our campaigns. Even if we feel the broadcast or print media dont give us a fair hearing its good the web allows us to generate our own publicity.

however, as much as i'm morally in favour of running positive campaigns as best you can. I think that when you are given a 'gift' like jack mcconnell you really can't pass up the chance to attack. When you think of billboards the memorable ones are "labour isn't working" and '"divorce is an expensive business" or the demonic Blair poster. I expected if we dont do them then someone else will. I think its quite a clever slogan, if not particularly catchy. I mean who doesnt want the right to choose? Instead of binding themselves to independence in the mind of the public they are saying "hey we're going to let you the people decide" it would be a bit more powerful if it had incorporated the fact that the unionist parties dont want to give people the choice, but I guess they have to stay away from being negative, dont want to encroach on Labours campaigning tactics.
