SPL loan deals

Both Motherwell and Dunfermline trying to get Elliot on loan from Hearts. Last year United had a Celtic player on loan and I think Mother well had a Rangers player on loan. I think it's ridiculous that players are allowed to be loaned out to other teams in the same league. How can you build a team around players that can't play against certain teams? Are United in better position now having taken Mulgrew on loan, or have they just helped improve a player for one of their competitors?

Well i think Mulgrew has been given a free transfer so can't say they improved him that much! Smile

I thought he did well at United and was one of there better players last year. Will Unitied not try and sign him if he's being available on a free?

I see no problems with loaning of players between teams including those in the same league. From my team, Wrexham's point of view if was a god send. As we where in Administration we wheren't allowed to have more than 20 players in the squad, when we found ourselves with a massive injury list last season the only hope we had was sigining players on short term loan.

The only down side to loaning players from the same league is when they score against you unfrtunatly. Very Happy

Dear Bloggers, I am sure Parkhead and Frank Rizzo are well aware of this site, but Slugger O'Toole is a good blog for all things N Ireland for those of you who take an interest. There are some interesting view points from over the water on the political situation unfolding on this side of the Irish sea particularly in Scotland but also on what's happening south of Hadrian's wall.

From the Scottish Independence movements point of view, the unionist standpoint in NI/North of Ireland is being brought into question! Do a search on 'Scottish nationalism'. Makes interesting reading.

As for your comment Parkhead on Republicanism, I take your point, but to the casual observer who is not up with the finer points in Irish politics that is the perception. As it happens, I am also a republican politically, but of the Scottish variety so our view points may not be that different!

The best outcome in my view is an independence referendum 'Yes' in Scotland and a drive for an English Parliament down here. The latter too, is gaining momentum amongst the politically aware. The Welsh, as we see on this site are also restless, the union looks more precarious than ever in my humble opinion.

I know my two posts have not been directly football related, but it seemed appropriate to make them here.

Well, they ususally have a clause saying that they can't play against the team that they are being loaned from. But that skewes the league. Why should Elliot get to play against every team apart from Hearts? I understand that it's could be good for a club in a situation like Wrexham, and I don't have a huge problem (wouldn't want loaned players at my club at all though) with loans in general, just not in the same league.
