Tax Rises to Pay for Elderly CareAccording to the Independent, National Insurance contributions are going to increase in order to pay for a minimum level of care for the elderly in England.
Given that care of the elderly is free in Scotland, I wonder how these proposed tax rises will go down with the Scottish public?

I imagine there would be a big fat Barnett consequencial from such a move so maybe it wouldn't go down so badly in Scotland.

Care of the eldery in Scotland is NOT free, only the personal care element. Also it not available to everyone. All of us in Scotland pay National Insurance, so are we going to get a refund for that to go to paying for the elderly in Scotland?

Typical bloody Westminster - they come up with an idea and the Scots write a cheque to pay for it.
