Terry Waite To Stand For MP?

Following on from Esther, Terry Waite is the latest high profile personality to through his hat into the ring as a potential candidate for MP.  Martin Bell said he might stand again also.

Is this just an ego trip for those type of people or do they actually offer anything to politics?

I'm afraid that it is....and I'm not sure that any parliament full of sanctimonious celebrities would be any better than what we've got already at Westminster. In fact, I think it would probably be worse.
