Thank goodness we are represented by the U.K. in EuropeSee this article from the Herald:

It's nice to know that the U.K. does indeed pack a significant punch in Europe.............the only thing is it's our fishermen that they're punching.

Bloody fishermen. They overfish our waters and then expect the government to negotiate on their behalf and to effectively prop-up their inefficient industry.
If it wasn't for the CFP, there'd be no fish for them to catch by now!
Nobody likes their interests attacked, but I don't doubt we traded their fishing rights for something better... otherwise, shockingly, we wouldn't have done it.

Your an idiot, have you actually read or know anything about what has happened?
The prawn fishermen have been sold out by that excuse of a man Ross Finnie under the direction of Westminster, who wanted to save some English jobs

No Finnie, who is the most competent person in the Scottish Executive, gave the fisherman a good deal in which he bought them out rather than propping them up.
The problem with subsidising an industry that is to large is that the industry doesn't sink to its natural size it just sots collecting subsidies, doesn't allow new entrants & doesn't innovate & in the case of this particular industry would continue catching illegaly.

Maybe you should see my post on the other thread on this subject. The Scottish fleet is being ridiculously over-supported and you're advocating putting the already-tiny English fleet out of business entirely for the sake of a 1.5% dent in the Scottish catch.
Don't doubt for a second that the vast majority of those f***ing fishermen have jobs only by the grace of the state and the taxpayer.

True. State-subsidy is only ever a short term sop to vested interests.

No. Taking a measured and equal position, and advocating the ending of privilege is not "anti-" anything.
Really, this sort of accusation is the lowest of the low. If you have a real point to debate, do it. Don't just fill the space with guff because you realise that to argue you case would simply reveal your prejudices.
