The film DoomsdayI was wondering if anyone had seen the film Doomsday that's in cinemas at the moment. The MP Angus MacNeil had some issues with Scotland's portrayal in the movie, and I was curious what any Scots thought about it.
It's too violent and horrific for most people (and a bit of a mess IMHO) and obviously a bit fantastic, but I can see someone making a reasonable film thesis out of it with The Wicker Man.

I thought it was pretty good for what it was. What exactly was Angus MacNeil's problems with the portrayal of Scotland? I thought it was a fairly realistic portrayal of how a society could break down and restructure itself.

"The complimentary part is that people are thinking about Scotland as we are moving more and more towards independence. But the film depicts a country that is still the plaything of London. It is decisions made in London that has led to it becoming a quarantine zone."
Of course, Angus MacNeil probably doesn't much think before opening his mouth.

That was it. That was part of the point of the film I think. The fictional government were ready to do the same thing to the parts of London they didn't like too.
