We are split on this in our house with my son opting for an ending that says the guy that went to the bogs, comes out and shoots Tony, and me looking at it more positively, believing the final scene to be saying that, despite the constant risk and threat, the soprano family are together and happy and safe (I think the guy who goes to the bog is tonys minder).

there are lot of theories, i have 2.
1. he simply had a panic attack.
2. nothing happened, david chase leaves the ending to you, the watcher.
i'm becoming a bit obssessed about it, i really miss it. hoping to do the tour again the next time i'm in noo yoik.
did you see it on tv last week or did you get pirate dvd's earlier in the year?

I love the Sopranos as well, a few options between my pals and I.
2 are very pee'd of with the ending and saying it's a cop out
2 (myself included) think it was brilliant and so amazing for words
1 thinks it was somewhere inbetween.
Personally I think T lives and there will be a film in 3years probably even though Chase has said it won't.
I wanted to wait Millerton but I ended up watching the ending on youtube, my friend (the one who thought it was somewhere inbetween) is a sopranos nut and he was reading it week by week on the net of what happened when it was shown on HBO in May
The song fits the ending so so well and the lyrics are a link too
"Don't stop believing" and the b-side "Anyway you want it" (you decide)
"some will win, some will lose, some are born to sing the blues"
"the movie never ends, it goes on and on" another clue maybe?
T keeps living and we've lived with T and his familly, mob etc but now it's time for us to leave so to speak.
brilliant stuff. sadly missed already, great program

a movie would be great but i think could spoil the brilliance of the series if it was not done to perfection.

"did you see it on tv last week or did you get pirate dvd's earlier in the year?"
I downloaded it a while ago when it was out in the states. I watched it about a couple of hours after it aired in the US, my son and I stayed up late every week for the big event.
"hoping to do the tour again the next time i'm in noo yoik."
I havent been to NY or Jersey since I started watching the sopranos but I'm looking to perhaps go there next summer, depending on Scotlands result against Italy.

Think the blackness at the end was meant to be the viewer getting whacked, personally. They are talking about the possibility of movies in the future even if none are planned right now. They couldn't do that minus Tony.

A great series. Haven't heard any criticism about it at all.
