The Tories and Gaidhlig

I'm sure most of us are familiar with the tale that the "Tory" nickname earned by the various parties over the years and now, of course, the preserve of the Conservative & Unionist Party, came from an Irish word for "bandit".

I was wondering if this (or indeed "Toridh" - from my hugely limited understanding of Gaelic spelling) translates into modern Scots Gaelic in any meaningful way.
