Was St Patrick born in Old Kilpatrick?It is being claimed that St Patrick (you know, him that all the pseudo-paddies in Coatbridge celebrate every 17th March) was born in Old Kilpatrick of Roman parents.What do you think? |

Any reference to Old Kilpatrick and you will find this claim.
Any Scottish History sites. Type in Old Kilpatrick. It was a roman fort, it was near the western end of Antonine's Wall. Wikipedia: Old Kilpatrick. There's a St Patrick's well near the town which dates way back. |

and again. James, it's common practice to provide a direct link. try highlighting the address bar and pressing ctrl+c , place your cursor in the message bar and press ctrl+v it's a task that takes less than a second and should be achievable by even those with the lowliest of educations. |

I am not bothered where Patrick of one of the early christian churches was born.
In many ways I might have prefered that christianity never caught on at all. As for "saint" or "sainthood" it means nothing constructive in this day and age. So Patrick's Day in Ireland or Andrew's Day in Scotland should be the secular names, in my opinion - humble or honest or otherwise. |
