did you know that on monday (1/6/09) nights sports bulletin, you know the monday after rangers and falkirk competed in the scottish cup final, rangers won it and completed a historic double the sports bulletin reported.
headline - martinez may come to celtic, fan interviewd wanting a 'sellikman'.

andy murray in france.

new zealander to play for british lions.

monty on the ryder cup.

and thats it. not a mention of rangers winning the cup/double.

the climax to the fottball season, the cup final, n historic double. NOTHING.

can someone explain this?

Possibly becaue they had reprted it constantly for over a day, every newspaper had fully reported and the news tries to move on in the evening to be ahead of the next days papers, I dont think this sounds unusual at all. They reported Rangers cup win all day Monday.

I dont understand what you think the problem is. Surely you are not suggesting that the BBC deliberately didnt report Rangers win? Why would they do that?

the new celtic manager story was also reported all wekkend and on monday. but bbc scotlands main sports bulletin at 6-30 only spoke about who MIGHT be celtic manager.

shoddy editorial work.

I dont agree that its to do with the editors. The Celtic story is an ongoing story, the match on the Saturday is old news by the Monday.

I will. Are you saying that we should still be reproting on a match from Saturday on the Monday evening?

Have you looked back to check whether this is unusual?

The producer of evening news programmes have the task of being ahead of the competition, the other channels and the next days papers. I am sure they dont take decisions based on whether or not Rangers should get coverage or not.

i think you'll find that both bbc and stv always show and report on the highlights of the weekend games on the monday night. i'm not sure why the bbc did not on monday and that was a prestige cup final.

But it isnt for me to "find" its up to you to back up your case. You "find" it, the present it, then I might agree that it was a mistake.

As it stands, I dont even know whether they BBC did what you claim!

Why do you think they didnt cover it on that Monday evening?

i don't need to find it. bbc and stv always howed highlights or reported on games on a monday night on their 6-30 news.for years.
