No you wont attend an "end the occupation" event or a "stop the war" event or international workers days events at Mayday is he is appearing. Ive seen Rose Gentle speak four times mow and so far I've missed the "that poor woman" speech.
I've seen the Tony Blair is a liar one, the end the occupation one, ive seen her outside the army recruitment offices telling young men not to join and I've seen her join Kendall Smith telling troops to refuse the order to go to Iraq. You refuse to listen to her and to back any anti war event that she is at.
What about Michael Dickson? Do you refuse to listen to him as he is an ex soldier? |

But what if Dickson had been killed while he was a British soldier. His mum might be speaking at a troops out of Ireland rally, would you refuse to go?
Rose Gentle was never in the British army, never killed civilians for the Kings Shilling, Dickson did. |

i dont see why having a relative killed fighting an immoral conflict gives you any great status. you and i both know this woman is used as a symbol of how our brave squaddies are fighting in this silly war and its not their fault etc etc. i certainly have never read any quotes from her that make me feel she has anything of any great relevance to say, i have no sympathy for the womans loss, i reserve that for the people of iraq. _________________ "our revenge will be the laughter of our children" bobby sands MP

Soooo... how was the rally? _________________ Those must have all been important to me once. What I am now grew from that. A former self is a fool, an insufferable ass, but he's still human, you'd no more turn him out than you'd turn out any kind of cripple, would you?

It was quite good Leo. A good turn out from Trades unions and others so there were plenty of banners if not that many marchers. A huge James Connolly banner led the march which was appropriate in Edinburgh and the speakers were very good.
Colin Fox was excellent and got the biggest cheer for announcing the blaw found in Jonh Reids house.
The bands were a decent mix. Eastborn the rapper was excellent and Culture Clash/Bhundu boys were good too.

It doesnt but it puts you in the public eye. If that publicity can then be used to combat the war then that is s a good thing in my opinion. Kelly McBride would tell you a similar thing. Her brother Peter being killed by the British Army does not make here a hero but it meant that she could use the publicity to stand in a byelection and highlight what was going on in Northern Ireland and how the British army were allowed to get away with murder. |
