I think you have mis-quoted me there RadgeJougal!!
Unfortunately Scotland lost to Pakistan today but made a spirited fight off it. Reduced to 20-4 after eight overs, Scotland fought back to post a total of 203-8, Watson the main man again making 80 off 84 balls.
Pakistan were 93-5 at one point and it looked like the victory might be on.
However they took charge and made 205-5 by the 44th over.

Onwards and upwards for Scottish cricket
http://www.cricketeurope4.net/DAT...CLES/articles/000028/002818.shtml
| Quote: | TUESDAY’S one-day international between Scotland and Pakistan proved that the game has a rightful place in the sporting calendar and made a strong case for increased public funding, Cricket Scotland argued yesterday.
An entertaining match won by five wickets by Pakistan in front of a crowd of 3200 will earn the sport’s governing body between £60,000 and £70,000, according to chief executive Roddy Smith. If such games were played on a regular basis a professional national side could be sustained, but this was a standalone fixture and India’s visit is likely to be the only major earner of next summer.
Smith believes that the only way to maximise cricket’s potential, and enable Scotland to continue improving, is for the Executive to free up more funding to support high-level cricket. Currently an annual sum of £50,000 from the public purse goes towards the national side’s activities.
“We only have two other sports in the country that could have put 3000 people in a ground and given them a competitive match against one of the best teams in the world,” Smith said yesterday.
“That’s a pretty compelling case that we have to be taken seriously as a major Scottish sport, and we will be stressing that point over the next two or three weeks.”
Tuesday’s attendance could have been several hundred higher had CS not enforced an all-ticket capacity of 3200, in fear of losing money on unfilled temporary stands. Typically, the phones were hot with enquiries in the week after the last ticket was sold.
“The main positive for us, after the washout of last year’s Australia game, was that another damp squib might have put people off,” Smith said. “If it had gone wrong on the field and we had been thrashed we would have been asking people to come back next year looking for a third bite of the cherry. That didn’t happen, and I hope yesterday will be a catalyst.”
Ryan Watson, fresh from his critical innings of 80 against Pakistan, will today inherit the honour of captaining the first European XI in the absence of the injured Craig Wright. Ross Lyons and Dewald Nel join Watson in the European side to play MCC, with Chris Cairns in their ranks, in Rotterdam.

| Quote: | The BBC TV man put it rather well when he said that it really was a great day for cricket in this country, and that the real winners were Cricket Scotland. What a marvellous sight it was to see the Grange packed full long before the start, the beautiful sunny weather and the keen competitive cricket! The crowd had its Scottish and its Pakistani faction, but they mingled together well and at several points one could see youngsters happily sporting the flags of both countries – the one where their ancestors had been born and the one in which they themselves had been born. A political bigot of the lunatic extremes would have been very unhappy at that!
Scotland, surprisingly inserted by Pakistan, got off to a horrendous start and at 20-4, we were staring at a major embarrassment and everyone going away home again by about 2.30, but Ryan Watson and Neil McCallum got together and started beating records for Scotland v. Pakistan with such regularity that scorer and statistician par excellence Neil Leitch was chuckling with glee. “It’s SO exciting”, he said and the BBC Radio commentators were similarly impressed.
203 was hardly a winning total but it was a respectable one, and for a spell it looked as if Scotland might do it. But sheer experience of one-day cricket at the highest level counts for something, and the two Pakistani batsmen knew exactly how to build a platform and when to accelerate – to the undiluted joy of their massive support.
This Pakistan side is a good one, as England will discover later in the summer, and it was no disgrace for Scotland to lose to them. The performances of Watson, McCallum and Lockhart will be remembered from this great day. Playing against the likes of Yousuf and Afridi must be good for the development of such players, and the World Cup will not be in any way diminished by the presence of Scotland, in spite of what the Editor of Wisden might seem to think.
The game was broadcast on BBC Radio Scotland, the Press cabin was filled with the good and the great of Scottish sports journalism, at least two prominent members of the Scotland rugby team were spotted among the crowd – and generally Scottish cricket had a good day. It’s a pity that Jack McConnell didn’t show face, or that Gordon Brown didn’t give himself a rest from supporting England in the football, but that might happen on some other occasion.
Parking facilities were disappointing – at least the painfully slow exiting was – but I could not help thinking as I patiently waited my turn to get out, as I saw all the cars in front and behind me, as I edged forward ever so slowly, that Scottish cricket is perhaps now really on the march. After all traffic jams and cricket matches don’t often go together in this country! But, please, don’t anyone dare to tell me that Scotland is a country which is not interested in cricket!

That was interesting reading RH and sounded very positive for Scotlands cricket. I think its true that people in Scotland will support it a whole lot better if the big teams can be persuaded to play the Saltires. It can only be to the good for scottish cricket all round.
The test matches here are an endless series of draws! See what happens this time.

What do you reckon BG? Are the Windies in with a chance of reaching the 260-odd for victory?
Haven't got off to the best of starts, 7 - 1. This is the time for Lara to put in a 100 after his recent performances |

HEY RH, I can't imaging that they will win, another draw or a win for India.
I'm afraid that the footie has taken precedent over cricket on the telly,Not that I favor football myself over cricket, if you get my drift!!
