Beware of info on the Visited Scotland site... or at least take what they say with a pinch of salt!
(Earlier comment retracted for being a bit too harsh - apologies to the guys at VS!)

Brew had a wee peek at your website
Re Clackmannanshire the villages in the Hillfoots being instrumental in making the area one of the centres for weaving in Scotland...........
Maybe in the past, the most if not all of the mills are defunct now, one or two Mill Outlet shops. The last working woollen mill was in Alva, I'm sure that closed down, not weaving as far as I know.

Yes Carol, I believe they were! Thanks for pointing out my wrong use of the present tense there... it has now been corrected! |

cool, also worth mentioning the Castles and Towers trail;
open to visitors - Castle Campbell (gorgeous place to visit overlooking Dollar, regardless of it's connections) Menstrie Castle, Alloa Tower (ancestoral seat of the Earl of Mar and Kellie, now in the hands of NTS)
Also worth a visit but not open to visitors obviously because they're in need of restoration; Clackmannan Tower and Sauchie Tower (I'm involved with the latter) looking to securing lottery funding to bring this tower back to it's former glory.

| Castle Campbell does get a mention, but... despite how close I live to the area I haven't really spent that much time there (something I need to rectify as I believe the other glens are as nice as the one at Dollar!) |

Is this to do with the post on Linlithgow castle? on our fourms?
If so that info came from Historic scotland (they own the place!) so if incorrect then take it up with them, however i feel it is a bit harsh to have a dig at all of our site because of that!
Infact if historic scotland is incorrect (dunno if they are) then they should get pillard for it.
I await the your reply. _________________ www.visitedscotland.com |

I've had a pretty good browse around the site and I didn't see much if anything which is erroneous.
The weblog section should as you suggest be treated with a large pinch of salt but I think that pretty much anyone who reads those things knows not to take them too seriously.
Looks like it has the makings of a good site. Nice to see something Scottish based as opposed to having to use Trip Adviser!

The Glens, Menstrie (haven't been there) Alva, Tillicoultry and Dollar are worth visiting also Gartmorn Dam is worth a mention.
Other than that can't think of much else
How close are you?

I'm in West Lothian, but also spend a lot of time in the Falkirk/Stirling areas as well as Dunfermline - so close enough to visit Clackmannanshire almost any time!

I've retracted my earlier comment... apart from the bit about the pinch of salt - I think most things on the net should be checked before they can be totally believed (even if it is the people that should be in the know!) |

Brew
Worth visiting on a sunny day Gartmorn Dam is literally on my doorstep, scenery is stunning.

| It certainly looks good as far as far as I can see... I'll add it to my (long) list of places to visit (which is about as long as the list of places to revisit!) |
