Missed my Xmas night out. Was totally floored with the cold/flu.
Nevermind, no doubt I will have one or two drams over the festive period

Had a course in the centre of Edinburgh today. Since I live on the outskirts of Glasgow, I decided that I would drive to Bathgate and then take the train to Edinburgh.
Going in was easy and stress free enough.
Coming out though reminded me that I should never use public transport again
Firstly sitting on the train in Waverly station waiting to embark on the journey at 16.00. Conductor comes over the tannoy, "Train cancelled, points failure."
Waited
Waited
Waited
Eventually 2 hours later they lay on a bus to take us round on all the stations. But by this point about half of Scotland is wanting to go to Bathgate.
Eventually managed to get on the second bus. I began to relax. It was going to take a lot longer than the train, but at least I was on my way. But that wasn't the end of the adventure, oh no.....!!!!
The driver had to go to all the stops to let people of. So he must have been unfamiliar with the route because when we got to Uphall, he thought there was an exit at the other end of the car park. But it was in fact a dead end!!
So he tries to do a 3 point turn in the bus, but the back of the bus gets stuck on the pavement and when he floors the accelerator, all the wheels do is spin round!!
After about 10 minutes he asked us all to get off the bus and he eventually managed to get the bus going.
So eventually I get in the door at 20.00 a full 3 hours after I expected to!!

Work was bizarre today... on account of every different computer system that we use being down while IT moved their servers to the new offices.
Still, a 2-hour lunch break at the pub and an afternoon spent writing a scathing letter to the pub we used to go to about how rubbish it's become really does take the edge off the boredom. _________________ (\_/)

Public transport |
My wife & I went to Edinburgh in October for our anniversary. As we were staying in the city centre, she persuaded me to take the train rather than drive. When we turned up at Gilmour Street, the woman at the kiosk sold me the wrong ticket, and then had to refund & recharge it, all the while carrying on a conversation with her son(?) on her mobile phone and discussing arrangements for some sort of hen night with the girl at the next kiosk. So we missed the train. But it turned out not to matter, because the trains had all been canceled anyway, and a bus replacement service was operating instead. A rickty old banger, stinking of damp and containing an unusually large share of drunks for 10am crawled its way to Glasgow at about 20mph. So we missed the connecting train too. But that didn't matter much either, because trains from Queen street were only going as far as Falkirk, from whence a replacement bus service crawled its way etc etc via every lamppost to Haymarket, 4 hours later than expected. If we'd taken the car, we'd have been there 5 hours quicker... _________________ It's murder every week at Firhill. |

Unlucky AM. I use the Glasgow to Edinburgh, Edinburgh to Glasgow service every 3 or 4 days on average over the last 2 years, and have never been on a cancelled service. Think the latest a train's even got in is about 10/15 mins late! _________________ "Gordon Brown mistook a glut of cheap money and a global bull market for his own administrative genius. Aaaarrrrgggghhhh!!!!
Ross County were 2 - 0 up today against the league leaders and ended up drawing 2 - 2.
Looking on the bright side, St J did have 3 goals chopped off and 2 decent penalty claims turned down
I guess we got the breaks today _________________ Visit the Our Scotland Blog at http://our-scotland.blogspot.com/ |

I'm happy to see anyone take points from St J, but three goals chopped off? Must be some kind of record. _________________ It's murder every week at Firhill. |

One day of heavy snow in Dundee yesterday do not know what the rest of the country was like?
Heard on the radio they could move Christmas to February but it would be too long a wait, glad to see the back of it and will be happy to see the end sometime to this cold weather. _________________ “For socialists, independence is not about the colour or type of flag flying on our public buildings. Can't believe it St J came from 2 goals down again today.
We won 2 -1 away to Dumfermline though
Might just secure First Division status for another season _________________ Visit the Our Scotland Blog at http://our-scotland.blogspot.com/ |

Hopefully I will be celebrating on Saturday. For if we win, we will be in the First Division for another season.
Don't think I will hang about celebrating in Airdrie too long though _________________ Visit the Our Scotland Blog at http://our-scotland.blogspot.com/ |

Whether RC win; lose, or draw, you should still celebrate leaving Airdrie! _________________ "Gordon Brown mistook a glut of cheap money and a global bull market for his own administrative genius. Well, it wasn't to be. County were truly dreadful today and Airdrie weren't that much better.
The only thing that was worse was the performance of one of the lino's. Absolute incompetent
