I think it is his fault. He failed to inspire a positive election campaign and failed to connect with the electorate. He lacked direction and fell in behind Blair and Brown when they ventured north to to and support the campaign. So I think he has got a lot to answer to.

You could also add that he looked pretty poor in the debates with all the leaders and this probably helped in his downfall as Labour leader and he led a complete negative campaign e.g "£5,000 worse off" etc |

And McConnell was too weak to dictate the style of his own campaign.

| Noticeably it was Wendy Alexander being interviewed on C4 tonight... also when asked if fiscal autonomy should be considered for Scotland she very quickly said Yes...and only a couple of months ago the Labour party were saying there was no need for additional powers for the Scottish Parliament... |

| She has changed her tune in a big way. I can remember a few years back that she made a complete fool of herself by claiming there was no precedent for it, obviously completely unaware of how the Basque Country and Navarre do things in Spain. |

Last night on Newsnight Scotland Cathy Jamieson says they (Labour) were against fiscal autonomy as it was independence under an other name. These two Labour burdz should talk more then they won't contradict one another.
On the preceding Newsnight programme, Kirsty Wart let it out the bag that her pal Jack is standing down tomorrow (today now). |
