CELTIC LEAGUE - PRESS INFORMATION

LEAGUE NOVA SCOTIA LINKS STRENGTHENED

The General Council of the Celtic League has voted unanimously to
become members of the Comhairle na Gaidhlig/Gaelic Council of Nova
Scotia, following an invitation from its Administrative Officer in
December 2007.

Links with Comhairle na Gaidhlig have been strengthened since the
League's AGM in Caerdydd, Cymru after the following resolution was
passed:

"For the Celtic League to build on its links, develop cooperation
and establish new contacts with other organisations and groups internationally
that work to promote the Celtic languages, culture and identity of
the Celtic people e.g. Office of Gaelic Affairs in Nova Scotia."

In November 2007 the League's General Secretary wrote to the Comhairle
na Gaidhlig suggesting that closer cooperation between our two organisations
may be of mutual interest to our members, in line with our position
to promote the Celtic languages, culture and identity of the Celtic
people.

Comhairle na Gaidhlig works to promote and protect the Scottish Gaelic
language and culture in the Canadian province of Nova Scotia.

The Celtic League's membership of Comhairle na Gaidhlig will represent
the first occasion that a formal link with another organisation is
sought.

Contact has also been maintained between the League and the Chief
Executive Officer, Lewis MacKinnon, at the Office of Gaelic Affairs
in Nova Scotia.

More information about the Council can be found at http://www.gaelica/

It is inspirational to me to see people on the other side of the world who are still Celtic in their thoughts and language, some make fun of Canadian/American Gaels, but the language movement needs us all - and we can win ! Very Happy
