"I am ready to meet my Maker. Whether my Maker is prepared for the great ordeal of meeting me is another matter."

Stalin, and those whom he led in the struggle for succession to Lenin's position of leadership, were not the men to tolerate rival political forces in the sphere of power which they coveted. Their sense of insecurity was too great. Their particular brand of fanaticism, unmodified by any of the Anglo-Saxon traditions of compromise, was too fierce and too jealous to envisage any permanent sharing of power.

George F. Keenan (1904-2005)

Keenans opinions were all about propaganda, being a US govt foreign affairs guy.

I think it ludicrous to describe Stalin's actions against a background some kind of master race of anglo saxons who would behave better and have a tradition of compromise.

Keenans analysis is useless because it is based on trying to establish propaganda as fact.

If Stalin was an anglo-saxon he wouldnt be so insecrure or so violent?  Geez a break!

The idea that anglo-saxons have some sort of racial trait that makes us superior in terms of resolving issues is patently nonsense.

It's a huge leap from 'traditions of compromise' to 'some sort of racial trait'

Whoopee! It may have been a small one for Neil, but that's a long one for me. - Pete Conrad, third man on the moon, and at 5' 6" one of the shortest astronauts compared to Neil Armstrong's 5' 11"
