According to the Sunday Herald.

I agree with Salmond 100%.  With everything that went on, not just with the Iraq War, but throughout his time as PM, I wouldn't even give him the job of cleaning the toilets in our office, let alone the Presidency of the EU.

Its' interesting as he is tapping into Anti-Blairism as a way to gain support for the SNP.

I don't know if I totally agree, it depends on how the whole of Europe feels about him.

He thinks Blair should be 'disqualified'? Terrifically well thought out opinion there, Alex - I wonder if he drafted the amendments to the Lisbon Treaty himself when he had a spare ten minutes on the train.

If he can find the envelope upon which it was composed, would it read "Disqualifications: non-European citizens, persons under the age of 21, anyone who some politician nobody's heard of believes shouldn't be allowed to stand"...

f***ing idiot.

On the subject of 'vetoing' - if he'd bothered to take a cursory glance at either the Constitutional Treaty or the Lisbon Treaty, he might have realised he wouldn't have a veto on this issue, which is decided by qualified majority voting.

If he wants to disagree with the idea, fine; this, however, is a lot of absolute rubbish. I certainly don't think he'd make a bad President of the European Council. However I may well be overestimating his status in a rather Anglocentric fashion. He's certainly got the political ability.
